The 18th edition of the International Field Robot Event will take place as a virtual event from 8-10 June 2021 on DLGs digital platform
The annual contest for student teams and their field robots will be using a simulation environment similar to that used in the "NASA Space Robotics Challenge" to test robotic software for space exploration. The virtual event provides participants with realistic designs with real-life effects to recreate a range of agricultural field scenarios.
Simulated arable field tasks
Automation and digitisation, optimised crop production as well as sustainable agriculture are the agricultural challenges selected for the virtual field robot contest. 14 international student teams from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Slovenia, will present their virtual robots in action, performing complex field maneuvers. This year one of the teams is comprised of talented school-aged pupils from across Germany. The 3D robotic simulator “ROS / Gazebo” used for the event offers realistic designs of weed and obstacles, with photo-realistic effects like shadows, lighting and textures in 3D.
Event to be streamed live on DLG’s digital platform
The Field Robot Event is a partner of the DLG Feldtage event. The DLG plans to stream the event live on its digital platform.
