7th Agritec Africa to focus on improving farmers’ income through innovation and technology

The exponential spread of the novel Coronavirus caused an extensive economic and social disruption across the globe

The global supply chains of various sectors have been adversely affected. The world is going through a large scale economic and social restructuring.

As businesses have stepped into the post coronavirus future, world is slowly and gradually trying to find a balance between what worked before and what needs to be done to succeed in attaining the “Next Normal” which is highly used term worldwide now.

Meanwhile, restructuring and revival of the impacting world economies could make places such as Africa more viable for increased agriculture production. The continent is generally regarded as a wild card in the agriculture industry. The potential is huge, but the continent faces significant challenges - including access to energy and irrigation, as well as the need for basic agriculture infrastructure - that put its ascendance in question. Overseas investors’ participation in infrastructure may become a deciding factor in accelerating the continent’s rise toward self-sufficiency rather than remaining a net importer.

With an aim of modernising Africa’s agriculture, Radeecal communications have been organising Agritec Africa, an international exhibition and conference on agriculture technologies from 2014 at Kenya.

“We are pleased and thankful that Ministry of Agriculture Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative has continuously extended their support to us since the first edition of Agritec Africa in Kenya.”

Modernising East Africa’s and Kenya’s agriculture in the face of post COVID-19 crisis and changing climate will require significant investment. Investments in irrigation can increase the likelihood that farmers maintain yields even when the weather is unfavourable.

Better roads can help connect markets, which would help farmers sell their crops at fair prices. Improvements in the functioning of seed production systems would provide farmers with new varieties of seed that are suited to new conditions. Upgraded crop-storage facilities would prevent spoilage and food waste.

“Through, Agritec Africa we have year by year tried to provide a business platform for the growth and development of Agriculture Industry in Kenya and East Africa which demands huge investment and introduction of latest technologies for reaching up to its potential level.”

Leading to an increased demand in various sectors of agriculture industry like irrigation technology, seeds & bio-technology, agriculture equipment, storage solutions, agriculture chemicals and dairy technology industry, grain and grain allied technology, the 7th Agritec Africa, Dairy Livestock & Poultry and Graintech Africa are anticipated to attract major participation ever by the established national and international players.

Agritec Africa 2020 is jointly organised with Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative, Republic of Kenya.
