AGCO to host Agribusiness Forum 2014

Agricultural equipment manufacturer AGCO will host Agribusiness Forum 2014 in Kinshasa, DR Congo from 26-29 October 2014

The forum entitled “Towards Inclusive Growth: A Vision for Africa’s Agricultural Transformation” will discuss the future of Africa’s agri-food sector, AGCO revealed.

“The private sector can, and does play a significant role in developing the agri-food sector in Africa,” explained Nuradin Osman, AGCO’s director of operations for Africa and the Middle East.

The global company’s goal is for large-scale commercial farmers in addition to small-scales farmers access appropriate technology that will boost their productivity and in turn their profitability.

The event has been organised by EMRC and DR Congo's Ministry of Agriculture (MINAGRI) and in partnership with UNDP, FPI (Fund for the Promotion of Industry), FAO, Rabobank Foundation, Trust Merchant Bank (TMB), AGCO and others.

“Technology is mainly coming from the private sector, and it is key to provide farmers with the necessary tools to get more yields in a more efficient and sustainable way. Agricultural development goes hand in hand with private sector’s initiatives,” explained, Idit Miller, EMRC vice president and managing director.
