Zambia hosts Cassava World Africa 2014

Cassava World Africa will open its doors on 20-21 March 2014 in Lusaka, Zambia to unveil the transformation of cassava from a staple food to a commercial crop used in the production of flour, beer, feed and starch

The event, which will take place at Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka, will be inaugurated by Robert K.K. Sichinga, MP & minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

According to CMT events, topics to be discussed at Cassava World Africa 2014 include food security, financing projects, breeding processes, cassava use in commercial production of flour, starch and bioenergy.

The conference programme will centre its focus around Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia, CMT said.

This year’s conference involves key sessions headed by global speakers including one by agricultural development & agro-processing specialist, Dennis Beunk, Brightface Enterprise who will undertake a session under the heading ‘Enhancing Food Security, Income Generation, Value Adding and Economic Empowerment through commercialization of Cassava,’ event organisers stated.

Other speakers at the event include senior economist, Diogo Machado, MD/CEO Thai Farm International Louw Burger, and MD International Starch Institute Jens Thomsen.

Economic and Business Consultancy LMC International will also present a report on ‘Global Starch Market Outlook & Feedstock Economics,’ CMT said.
