Nigeria to host AGRIKEXPO 2016

AGRIKEXPO 2016, one of Africa’s largest events for agribusiness development, will be held in Abuja from 26–28 September

The event will be held at the Abuja International Conference Centre, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Federal Ministry of Trade and Investments, Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG), All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and several other agencies.

Nigeria is a choice destination for agribusiness development and investments, given the focus of government on transforming the sector for food security, increased export earnings, job creation and other economic benefits. Nigeria is the hub of trade in West Africa with buyers from nearby countries procuring from there. In this regard, there is a great need for new investments, partnerships and appropriate technology, including an increase in value chain activities for quick results.

According to NABG coordinator Emmanuel Ijewere, the event will be of great impact as the nation marks its 56th independence anniversary, more so with the current focus on agricultural development via technology application. Several high profile guests are expected at the event including the vice-president, ministers and high-end industry captains.

Several seminars are scheduled for the event with themes including agricultural mechanisation, poultry, agrochemicals, local processing and packaging, horticulture and women in agriculture.

As Abuja is equidistant to the agricultural zones in Nigeria, the event will provide a convenient opportunity for farmers to interact with exhibitors and equipment suppliers.
