Rwanda prepares for national agriculture expo in June

Rwandas annual National Agriculture Expo 2013 will take place from 11-18 June 2013 and will be held at Mulindi Agricultural Showgrounds in Gasabo

For the eighth year running, the expo, which was set up by Rwanda's Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), will be centred around “Private sector investment for sustainable agricultural transformation”.

Norbert Sendege, the committee chairman who originally set-up the event, said that 150 exhibitors have agreed to take part this year.

Sendege said that the expo would draw in individual farmers, as well as farmers' organisations, global exhibitors, financial service providers, insurance companies, agricultural products and suppliers of equiopment.

“The difference between this year's expo and the previous exhibitions is that it's going to be more private sector-oriented where farmers and investors in the agribusiness will take the lead in showing new techniques and skills they have come up with,” Sendege stated.

According to the event organisers, exhibitors will be welcomed from all East African Community (EAC) member states, and will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Asia and Europe.
