A council led by chairperson of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal, on African Economic Integration, at the B20 India 2023, which took place from 25-27 August, has suggested that the world taps into Africa’s agricultural potential to ensure development of the continent
In addition to promoting stronger human capital outcomes across various sectors including health, education and skilling, the council also suggested investment in infrastructure to bridge physical and digital connectivity gaps.
Furthermore, challenges involved in achieving structural transformation through industrialisation were also discussed, along with the need to facilitate trade to harness the potential of integration into regional and global value chains.
“Africa is a continent of hope; however, it is very backward. There is a need to adopt Africa to do agriculture as utilisation of 60% of the uncultivated land in the continent can change the world,” said Mittal in a report by Business Today.
