Visitor registration commences for 7th AgriTech Expo Zambia

Organisers of AgriTech Expo Zambia, a leading agricultural machinery showcase event in sub-Saharan Africa, DLG Agriculture along with the Zambian National Farmers Union (ZNFU) and venue hosts Golden Valley Research Trust (GART) have officially opened the visitor registration for the 7th edition of the trade fair

AgriTech Expo Zambia takes place from the 15-17 April 2021 and is spread over 250,000 sqm of exhibition space and offers both small and emerging farmers as well as large scale farmers a professional business platform where they can experience and engage with the latest offerings from world class suppliers of agriculture machinery and implements.

AgriTech Expo Zambia has 16 feature zones, which includes planting and machinery demonstrations and crop trial plots. Attendees can view these demonstrations and interact directly with the suppliers and find a solution that best fits their operation. SARO Agriculture, gold sponsor at AgriTech Expo Zambia has confirmed that it will be bringing many novel products and services to the GART Research Center in April such as the new TAFE 1015 tractor series, Two Wheel Tractor Conservation Farming Ripper, Hand Held Motorized Post Hole Digger, SARO Pedal Rice Thresher and many more.

Calvin Salah, marketing manager at SARO Agriculture, said, “We at SARO, and as an important partner to the agricultural sector, are proud to be associated with all farmers at this challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have strived, despite many challenges, to support the farming sector because regardless of the pandemic people still need to eat and the role played by farmers from all sectors to provide food should never be underestimated. We continue to support the Small Scale, Emerging & Commercial sectors with tried and tested equipment of high quality and at competitive prices.”

AgriTech Expo Zambia in addition to being a business platform for the exchange information surrounding farm equipment technology and innovation it is also the most influential forum for the farmers to have meaningful and crucial conversations. One example of this is The High-Level Panel Discussion which takes place on the first day of AgriTech Expo Zambia which formally opens the Bayer Networking Zone which is a new feature area this year. The purpose of the high-level panel discussion is to foster a more inclusive approach in government policymaking where the voice of the farmers is also taken into consideration.

This year, the permanent secretaries of the ministries of agriculture, water, labour and trade will take the stage along with the country’s top commercial farmers and address some of the major issues facing the agriculture sector. The Bayer Networking Zone is where these policymakers, farmers, top agribusiness professionals and representatives from the media can continue the conversation in a more relaxed environment and at the same time interact, grow and enhance their network with the representation from the top agriculture machinery and implement suppliers.

In addition to the feature zones, AgriTech Expo Zambia will showcase international technology and solutions through country pavilions from the EU, Germany and Slovenia. International suppliers will showcase their products and innovations tailored to the needs of the farmers in the region. Farmers can also benefit from full expert run workshops on all three days of the trade fair. With a focus on small scale and emerging farmers, each day has a specific theme ranging from livestock production, organic farming, crop production, solar irrigation, agribusiness and Agri-tech and more. The topics covered range from disease control in animal farming, seed multiplication, microfinance options for small scale farmers as well as mechanisation on small scale farms and a closer look at innovative methods of irrigation.

DLG Agriculture and FarmersExpo have incorporated the highest levels of safety and hygiene protocols for conducting outdoor trade fairs and constructed a safe business plan that is in place to ensure the health and safety of all the stakeholders of the trade fair. Each person entering the trade fair inclusive of vehicles have to go through a number of procedures to halt the spread and transmission of foot and mouth disease as well as the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Dr Lars Huf, deputy managing director of DLG International GmbH and project lead of AgriTech Expo Zambia, said, “We take our responsibility to create a safe environment for all stakeholders very seriously. In addition to a number of consultations with local and national health authorities in Zambia we have created a safe business plan and hygiene concept that everyone entering the venue has to strictly adhere to.”
