Ahead of the 2024 planting season, ag-tech company Hello Tractor joins hands with the Ekiti Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food Security, to boost mechanisation and improve food security in the Nigerian state of Ekiti

According to a report by TheCable, Hello Tractor’s country director, Nneka Enwonwu stated that the government’s plan closely aligned with their commitment towards developing sustainable solutions in agriculture. He also highlighted the partnership’s potential to largely empower smallholder farmers, thereby boosting farming efficiency through mechanisation.

Mechanisation makes farming attractive to younger generations due to its reduced reliance on manual labour. By improving market access, skill development, productivity and income, mechanisation can significantly transform the lives of these farmers, making it crucial for the progress of these regions.

However, in order to ensure that these benefits are equally received by all smallholder farmers, it is important to address key issues such as finance, infrastructure and gender equity, among others.
