South African beef has finally received approval for export to Saudi Arabia, marking the first time in two decades
This breakthrough has ignited a sense of optimism among South Africa's beef producers, fuelling their belief in the industry's promising growth prospects. Among those that were pivotal in the negotiation include the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural development; the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition; and the South African beef industry, in particular KARAN BEEF.
KAREN BEEF's unwavering commitment has left a mark on the industry's global reach and success. Having made significant strides in expanding its global footprint, KAREN BEEF is establishing a strong presence in the Gulf Countries (GCC), while their current sights are now set on the success of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, which is a thriving market.
“The local market for beef products, though still strong, is becoming a little saturated, but there is a lot of opportunity internationally. The industry is a big employer, but it could be bigger. And we want to help accelerate the growth that will create more jobs and stimulate the economy by expanding the export market. Further opening new export markets, will result in growth opportunities for local future commercial cattle farmers to take advantage of,” said Matthew Karan, director KARAN BEEF.
